Data are true color (RGB) Geotiff files (.tif) with associated .jpg browse graphics, .his (HIStory) files, and metadata in Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) format.

    This data set comprises an update of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) data for the Virgin Islands. ESI data characterize estuarine environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. The ESI data were collected, mapped, and digitized to provide environmental data for oil spill planning and response. The Clean Water Act with amendments by the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 requires response plans for immediate and effective protection of sensitive resources. This digital data re-release includes shoreline, hydrological, and biological data in formats for GIS systems and as Adobe Acrobat maps with extensive documentation. These data were originally distributed as a DVD product.

    This data set comprises the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) maps for the shoreline of San Francisco Bay. ESI data characterize estuarine environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats; sensitive biological resources; and human-use resources. This atlas was developed to be utilized within desktop GIS systems and contains GIS files and related D-base files. Associated files include MOSS (Multiple Overlay Statistical System) export files, .PDF maps, and detailed user guides and metadata. A later version of these data was released in March 2007 and is filed under NODC accession number 0036884.

    The NOAA Coastal Services Center purchased digital ADS40 imagery and digital elevation models of the Connecticut coastline in 2004. The Coastal Connecticut project area is comprised of approximately 930 square miles. A total of 244 orthos (122 natural color and 122 color infrared) were produced to cover this area. Aerial imagery was collected in panchromatic, Red, Green, Blue and Near Infrared which yielded a natural color and false color infrared version of the completed digital orthophotography. Imagery was collected at an approximate altitude of 15,750 feet above mean terrain. These data are the infrared orthoimagery in Geotiff format with associated browse graphics and metadata. Infrared (IR) orthoimagery associated with these data are archived at the NODC under accession 0086838.

The true color images were acquired with an Applanix Digital Sensor System (DSS). The original images were acquired at a higher resolution than the final ortho-rectified mosaic. Ortho-rectified mosaic tiles are an ancillary product of NOAA's Coastal Mapping Program (CMP), created through a wider Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping initiative to increase support for multiple uses of the data. For the Louisiana shoreline, the purpose of the imagery was to provide digital shoreline and orthophotos for NOAA nautical charts. The shoreline area covers the Barrier Islands of Terrebonne and Timbalier Bays on the coast of the State of Louisiana. For Baton Rouge, source imagery was acquired on March 13, 2010, March 14, 2010 and March 15, 2010. The ground sample distance (GSD) for each pixel is 0.5 m. These data are in .his, .tif, and .jpg formats with associated metadata. Additional orthoimagery for this region (Baton Rouge to Southwest Pass) are filed under NODC accession numbers 0103945 and 0104414. Additional ortho-mosaic data is available at the NODC under individual accession numbers. Ortho-rectified mosaic tiles are not intended for mapping, charting or navigation.

    These data are orthorectified mosaic image tiles produced from 2008 aerial photography of the Potomac River, Maryland. The images were acquired at a 1:30,000 scale. Images have been ortho-rectified and mosaiced to produce a seamless data set. This imagery was orthorectified by Aero-metric to conform to the specifications set forth by NOAA for production of orthophotos in Contract Number DG133C06CO0055, Task Order Number T0007. Ortho-rectified mosaic tiles are not intended for mapping, charting or navigation. Orthoimages are visually inspected for completeness to ensure that no gaps or image misplacements exist within and between adjacent images. These images are derived by mosaicking multiple images to ensure complete coverage. Data are in .tif, .his, and .jpg formats with included metadata. Source imagery is cloud free.
